11/2/18 Creating Abstract Backgrounds on Paper and Negative Painting with Martinez
During this make-and-take class on Friday, November 2nd, from 1:00 until 4:00, each guest will a huge collection of one-of-a-kind Abstract Backgrounds on Paper using acrylic paints and various inks. Guests will learn the fundamentals of establishing a focal point in abstract paintings, and also the basics of Negative Painting.
Negative painting is an alternative approach in which the subject is established by painting around the object rather than by painting the object itself. When images such as leaves, trees, flowers or rocks appear in negative paintings they've been created by painting the spaces around and between their simple, distinctive shapes.
This all-inclusive class is appropriate for guests with all levels of experience, and those age fourteen and older are welcome to attend. Martinez will be available to help you every step of the way, and you'll also be able to work independently during your time together. Whether you’re creating for yourself or a friend; the pieces that you make in this class may be framed as original artwork, or used as a component in more elaborate collage or mixed media pieces.
Space in this class is limited, and guests may register online via the link here, or by calling 910-245-4129.
For groups of five or more, Martinez will be happy to host this class at an alternative time that works best for your schedule.
At ARTworks Vass, we encourage you to bring a friend; bring a snack; and bring the tasty beverage of your choice.
