6/24/23 4-Class Series of Beginning Watercolor Painting Classes with Beth Bale
Beth Bale will be teaching a series of 4 beginner watercolor painting classes starting in June and meeting for 2 hours on a monthly basis through September. These classes will allow time to work on a large number of watercolor techniques, building on the techniques learned in each class to include them in the painting of the day, then have a wider repertoire of skills to use for the next painting and so on. Color mixing, sketching, simple composition and use of light and shadow will be discussed in these classes, among other topics.
There will be time in each class to review works from the previous month and discuss the next class plans as well. Beth will do a painting demonstration at each class, showing students how to use the techniques to create the day’s painting. Topics will move from basic landscape composition to waterscapes, birds and then furry animals, one for each class (topics may be modified with input from the class). Guests are welcome to work on other subjects during this class and receive feedback on their work, making this class amendable to a more intermediate-level student as well. Class size is limited to ten participants, so there is always opportunity to receive feedback and ask questions.
Beth is an encouraging and fun teacher who has painted in watercolor for over 30 years. She is a signature member of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina and sells her work in galleries in Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Sanford, Milton and here at ARTworks Vass. You are invited to join this class to learn the joy and vibrancy of watercolor painting from a painter who loves them both….the painting process and the teaching of it!
Students will be expected to bring their own supplies for classes, as sent by email to class participants, or may use the basic four supplies (paint, paper, brushes and palette) for an additional $5 per class (bring to each class). This offers students a chance to decide if they wish to invest in their own supplies after trying it and seeing what is involved.
Dates: 4 Saturdays on June 24, July 15, August 12, & September 9
Time: 10 am to noon
Cost for the series of 4 classes: $150
Beginners are welcome, and those age fourteen and older are invited to attend.

- Registration allows for 1 person per class. Only those who have registered may participate.
- Aprons are not provided. You may bring your own if you wish.
- Class starts promptly, so be sure to arrive on time.
- Registrations are non-refundable.
- A class missed during the series is non-refundable.
