6/7/19 Encaustic Photo Manipulation with Hot Wax Class In The Studio with Martinez
During this make-and-take class on Friday, June 7th, from 1:00 until 4:00, each guest will create two 5 x 7 inch finished one-of-a-kind Encaustic Paintings on handmade braced panels at a cost of $39. It's appropriate for guests with all levels of experience, and those age fourteen and older are welcome to attend.
Encaustic Photo Manipulation is a process used to add texture and pigment to an image. Guests will alter photocopies of their images using encaustic wax, oil pastels, and India ink to add texture, depth, and color.
Martinez invites guests to use their own images in their finished pieces, and they're encouraged to email up to four of them to him at martinez072291@yahoo.com as early as possible to allow time for him to size and print them. If personal images aren't available, Martinez will have plenty on hand to share with those in attendance. Sentimental, whimsical, or fantastical... the choices are all yours!
Encaustic techniques are often thought of as "painting with melted wax". This techniques originated in Egypt as early as 100–300 AD. The hot wax medium is used as a top coat over photos, giving the photo an aged textured look.
Whether you’re creating for yourself or a friend; the piece that you make in this class will be treasured for a lifetime.
As time allows, guests will also have the option of creating additional pieces of the same size at a discounted cost. Martinez will be available to help you every step of the way, and you'll also be able to work independently during your time together.
Space in this class is limited, and guests may register online via the link here, or by calling 910-245-4129.
For groups of five or more, Martinez will be happy to host this class at an alternative time that works best for your schedule.
At ARTworks Vass, we encourage you to bring a friend; bring a snack; and bring the tasty beverage of your choice.
