Paint with Fire! Discover the centuries-old art of encaustic painting, an ancient technique using molten beeswax to create rich, layered works of art.
In this one-day workshop, Melissa Rian will guide you through the fundamentals of encaustic painting, from its fascinating history to hands-on techniques that bring this medium to life.
You'll learn how to safely use heat tools and torches, mix and manipulate encaustic paint, and explore the medium’s unique textural and layering properties. We'll also dive into exciting mixed media techniques such as collage, photography, carving, stenciling, metallic foils, and more.
By the end of the class, you'll have completed several small encaustic paintings and gained the confidence to continue experimenting with this dynamic and versatile medium.

✨ Optional: Students are welcome to bring personal collage materials for added creative exploration.

- Beginners are welcome.
- Children age 14 and older are welcome to attend class independently.
- At ARTworks Vass, you're always welcome to bring your own Nibbles and Sips to class. (Bonus points if you bring extra to share!)
- Registration allows for one Guest per class project.
- Only Registered Guests may attend class.
- Registrations are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.
