4/25/25 - "Beyond the Page" - Crafting a Dynamic Flag Book with Melissa Rian
Join Michigan-based mixed media artist Melissa Rian on Friday, April 25th from 10:00 to 1:00 for a hands-on workshop where you’ll create a Flag Book—a unique and interactive book structure that can be displayed either in 3D or flat. This versatile format is perfect for showcasing photos, collages, or postcards, making it an ideal way to preserve special memories.
In this class, you’ll learn the fundamentals of this easy-to-make bookbinding technique and leave with a beautiful, personalized book to treasure. Whether you incorporate travel mementos, artistic collages, or meaningful images, your finished piece will be a creative reflection of your experiences.
What to Bring:
- Photos, postcards, or collage materials to use as pages.
- After registering for class, send your digital photos to [email protected] to be preprinted.
All other materials are provided. No prior bookbinding experience is necessary—just bring your creativity!
Other Important Information:
- Beginners are welcome.
- Children age 14 and older are welcome to attend class independently.
- At ARTworks Vass, you're always welcome to bring your own Nibbles and Sips to class. (Bonus points if you bring extra to share!)
- Registration allows for one Guest per class project.
- Only Registered Guests may attend class.
- Registrations are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.
- Class starts promptly as scheduled.
- Dress to mess or bring an apron.
