1/25/26 - Create a Bejeweled Mosaic Heart Workshop with Kathy Downs at ARTworks Vass
Fall in love with texture, sparkle, and personal storytelling in this joyful mosaic class! Join Kathy Downs on Sunday, January 25th from 2:00–5:00 pm as you create a stunning 8.5" x 8.5" mosaic heart, inspired by the vibrant, layered example pictured.
You’ll design your heart using an eclectic mix of colorful glass, beads, buttons, charms, and found objects—arranged into a richly textured mosaic that’s as expressive as it is beautiful. Whether your style is romantic, bold, whimsical, or sentimental, this project leaves plenty of room for creativity.
You are encouraged to bring their own small “treasures” to incorporate—think old jewelry, meaningful charms, special beads, or tiny keepsakes that tell your story.
No mosaic experience is needed. Step-by-step guidance will be provided, along with all base materials and adhesives. You’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind heart full of color, sparkle, and personality—perfect for display or gifting.

Kathy Downs discovered her passion for glass art in 2011 when she and her family moved to the Quantico, VA area. Initially her small glass pieces were unique gifts for family and friends but as her collection and skills grew, she started selling her glass to fund her "glass" habit! She now creates both large and small fused glass in her home-based studio and, with 38 years of eduction experience, she enjoys teaching and mentoring aspiring glass artists through her fused glass classes at ARTworks Vass!

- Beginners are welcome.
- Children age 14 and older may attend class independently.
- Children under age 14 may join this class if a responsible adult also registers to attend and participate with them.
- Registration allows for one Guest per class project.
- Only Registered Guests may attend class.
- Registrations are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.
- Class starts promptly as scheduled.
- Dress to mess or bring an apron.
- At ARTworks Vass, you're always welcome to bring your own Nibbles and Sips to class.
