Bee - Pollinator - Everyday Ornament Etched Solid Copper and Crystal by Jean Skipper
Everyday Ornaments are beautiful on a holiday tree; but they're designed to be admired in a window or hung from an unexpected place every day of the year.
This one-of-a-kind Solid Copper Everyday Ornament was Etched and Handcrafted by Jean Skipper of Vass, North Carolina. It measures 2 7/8 inches wide, and a German Crystal dangles from the bottom.
Jean Skipper's works in solid copper, brass, sterling silver, gemstones, cultured pearls, Swarovski Crystals, vintage treasures, found objects, and other odds and ends. The textures, sayings, and sentiments on each piece are stamped or etched by hand. Where some see the discarded, Jean sees possibilities and history. She loves to repurpose things, and this gives her jewelry a whimsical and sentimental feeling.
The industrial nature of Jean’s work was most influenced by her Father and Grandfather. Her Dad was a steelworker in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, and he raised her with an appreciation for metals and tools of all kinds. Her grandfather was an avid collector of the discarded, long before it was cool to be one, and he passed along the thrill of the hunt to her.
Not to be outdone, Jean’s Mother, Grandmothers, Aunts, and Uncles all taught Jean the value of family and connection. She credits them with teaching her about the importance of Community, and insists that most of what she’s learned about coordinating retreats, classes, and special events at ARTworks Vass is a direct result of their family gatherings.
A little bit of Jean’s love of Family, Art, and Community go into everything that she does/
