*** Please Note ***
This Metalsmithing Class on May 14th from 5:30 until 7:30 will focus entirely on Creating Resin Charms. General Metalsmithing and Jewelry Making with Jean Skipper will resume on Tuesday, May 21st, as detailed in the listing that you'll find by clicking here.
***********************
During this focused session of Metalsmithing and Jewelry Making with Jean Skipper, guests will have the opportunity to create three one-of-a-kind solid brass round charms in which they'll capture the words and miniature treasures of their choosing in resin. From safe tool and chemical usage, to metal preparation, to the layout and design of each charm; Jean will present you with easy instructions and hands-on assistance during every step of the process. She’ll also provide you with all of the supplies and tools that you’ll need to complete your beautiful resin charms.
Please note that this class is for the creation of three charms. Guests will then use them independently in their own creations that may include pendants, bracelets, earrings, or as embellishments in mixed media works of art. (These charms themselves will require a twenty-four hour curing time after class.)
Examples of Jean's Resin Charms may be seen in the photos on this page. Whether you’re creating for yourself or a friend; the pieces that you make in this class will be treasured for a lifetime. (If you find that you’re hooked, and that three charms just isn’t enough... you’ll also have the opportunity to purchase additional charm supplies during this class.)
Reservations are encouraged for this class, as we expect it to fill quickly. They may be made onlinehere or by calling 910-245-4129.
For groups of five or more, Jean will be happy to host this class in the evening or at a time that works best for your schedule.
Jean Skipper is an artist from Vass, North Carolina, who creates mixed-media storytelling jewelry. Her work can be whimsical or sentimental, and sometimes it’s a bit of both. Hand applied words and textures play an important role in most everything that she creates. These details help to tell the story of each piece, and they encourage the wearer to share their personal memories and stories.
