Honor and celebrate the Hero in your life with an Heirloom Quality Custom One-of-a-Kind Wood Turned Challenge Coin Box!
Each Custom Challenge Coin Box will be created by North Carolina Artist, Mike Girimont, a resident of Whispering Pines, and a Veteran of the United States Navy. Mike enjoyed a lifetime of working with wood. Then, a Wood Turning Class after he retired ignited his passion for the medium. Since that class, Mike has continued to expand his knowledge and hone his skills. Woodworking is infinitely fascinating to him, and he regularly shares his passion for the craft with members of the Sandhills Woodturning Guild, his students, and collectors at ARTworks Vass.
What is a Challenge Coin? Challenge Coins are collected by Military Service Members and Public Safety Personnel. A challenge coin is a coin or medallion, bearing an organization's insignia or emblem. Traditionally, Challenge Coins were given to prove membership and to enhance morale. Today they're also created to mark auspicious occasions in an organization's history.
How do I order my Challenge Coin Box?
- Decide which side of your coin will be featured on the outside of your box lid, and which side of your coin will be featured on the inside.
- Answer all of the questions in this listing.
- Add this item to your cart.
- Repeat these first three steps for any other Challenge Coin Boxes that you're ordering.
- Proceed with checkout.
- Deliver your chosen Challenge Coins to ARTworks Vass in person, or mail them to ARTworks Vass at PO Box 152, Vass, NC 28394.
- Wait patiently! Your beautiful box will be ready for pickup, delivery, or shipping within 3 weeks of the time that we receive your coin.
- Please note that the prep time shown here is for 4 weeks to allow 1 week for you to provide us with your coins. Prep time may vary based on when we receive your coins.
Can I order a large quantity of boxes using the Challenge Coins that represent our organization? Absolutely! If you'd like to order more than 6 of the same Challenge Coin Boxes, please contact us before ordering at [email protected] or 910-245-4129.
Other Important Information
- It's almost impossible to capture how beautiful these boxes are in person!
- While not available for sale, the three precious Challenge Coin Boxes shown in these photos are on display at ARTworks Vass.
- You'll select your preference of Dark Colored Wood or Light Colored Wood, and Mike will choose the perfect piece of wood for you from his extensive collection. (The first 2 boxes shown are examples of "Dark Wood", and final box shown is an example of "Light Wood".)
- The designs around the side of each box are different. If you'd prefer a box with minimal design and smooth sides, please specify so when ordering. (The first 2 boxes shown are examples of boxes with designs, and the final box shown is an example of one with smooth sides.)
- If you're ordering multiple boxes with identical features... the same coins, the same orientation of the coins, and the same wood for all of the boxes... you may change the quantity in this listing to accommodate the number of boxes that you'd like to order.
- If you're ordering multiple boxes with different requests for each of them... different coins, different coin orientations, or different wood types... please add each Challenge Coin Box to your cart as a separate item.
- Upon completing your order, you'll receive a confirmation email from us. If it doesn't arrive, please contact us to confirm that your order was recorded in our system.
- At this time, only round Challenge Coins may be featured in these custom boxes.
- Because each Challenge Coin Box will be individually created based on your preferences, production will be limited.
- As demand increases, the lead time that we quote for the creation of new orders will lengthen.
- When Mike reaches the limit for his production schedule in 2024, we'll stop taking orders and begin a waiting list for future collectors.
- Collectors on that waiting list will be contacted by email when we begin to accept orders again.
